PROCEDURE / RECOMMENDATION for oil accidents with PANOLIN HLP SYNTH 15 – 68

PANOLIN HLP SYNTH 15 – 68 is a rapidly biodegradable hydraulic oil.
The biodegradability has been determined through the test method OECD 301B.

PANOLIN HLP SYNTH has been classified in low water hazard classes (WGK) and corresponds, depending on the viscosity, the following

water hazard class:

PANOLIN  HLP  SYNTH  ISO  VG

WGK

15, 22, 32

nwg *)

46, 68

1**

*) nwg = non-hazardous to water, **) 1 = low hazard to waters

Solids and / or toxic additives as well as other substances harmful to nature and creatures are not contained in PANOLIN HLP SYNTH in quantities that need to be identified.

In order to avoid having the responsible local authorities prescribe undue measures after an oil accident we recommend the following course of action:

BEFORE THE DEPLOYMENT

   1.  The responsible authorities are to be informed about the use of a biodegradable fluid with a low water hazard class - as listed above - as operating fluid before the deployment of the machine.

   2.  After showing the product description and safety data sheet one should request the information from the authorities concerned which volume of leakage of this fluid needs to be reported. Generally small and very small amounts of oil lost do not need to be reported.

AFTER AN OIL ACCIDENT
   3.  Report that and where (incl. exact location) there was an oil accident and how many liters of PANOLIN HLP SYNTH have been leaked.

   4.  Confirm that the customary measures for removal have been / will be  executed (e.g. removal due to slippery surface, etc).

   5.  Confirm that the leaked fluid is environmentally friendly acc. to the available documentation.

   6.   Immediately forward the product description and safety data sheet to the authorities.

   7.   Ensure that there is a pass card / bio certificate for the machine which may be submitted showing that and since when the unit has been filled with PANOLIN HLP SYNTH.

   8.   Supply the authorities with the name of your supplier.

   9.   Should you still, despite following all of the above, have doubts appropriateness of the measures required ba the authorities, insist on the neming of the legal basis.
You are entitled to an individual (not general) assesment.
